France and Britain here I come!
It's been a rather homely weekend, mainly because I won't be home for the next 1 and a half weeks.
Went to the gym and pool with Weetz yesterday afternoon, and had dinner at West Coast Plaza with the folks. Tuned in to the Golden Melody Awards on TV after that, which saw Crowd Lu deservingly winning Best Newcomer and Jay Chou finally snagging Best Male Vocalist.
Packed my luggage after that, and spent the whole of this morning organising my iPod for the trip. Shall buy A*Mei's album when I get back, and make do with 分生, 彩虹, Michael Jackson's "Number Ones", 张悬's "城市", Regina Spektor's "Far" and Lady Gaga's remixes for now...
Will be boarding the Airbus with Weetz at 11.40pm tonight, and touching down in Paris tomorrow morning at around 7am. We'll then take the Eurostar rail to London on Thursday, watch Madonna at The O2 on Saturday, and touchdown in Singapore next Tuesday night. It's my first time travelling out of Asia, and I'm looking forward to visiting the Eiffel Tower and walking along the bustling streets of London most.
Take care people and see you soon =)

15 minutes
There's an eatery at Laselle called 15 minutes, which we went to for the first time on Friday evening. The futuristic Laselle campus is one of my favourite buildings in Singapore, and 15 minutes is an effortlessly chic venue that attracts yuppie types who appreciate good design and a fuss-free menu.
The music was slightly annoying though, thanks to incongruous songs that were played at contrastingly different volumes. But I really like the general vibe of the place. It almost makes you feel like you're in New York, not that I would know how that feels like. Yet!

The princess of pop does Glastonbury!
Global domination is now complete.
Paparazzi + Lovegame (the last bit of Lovegame is the Chew Fu remix featuring Marilyn Manson's vocals!)
Just Dance
Poker Face
Can I bring rainbow flag to Fort Canning?

Madonna may have conical bras, but Lady Gaga has bras that spit fire
Seriously, does this woman ever sleep?
She performs all over the world, manages to look different each and every single time, and never fails to deliver her hit songs with different arrangements and dance steps.
Oh, and she sings 'live' all the time too!
This is what I call raising the bar for pop stars all over the world.

The one with the new song that sounds like a japanese anime theme song
We were pretty blown away by the excellent sound during our soundcheck at Powerhouse in St James Power Station yesterday.
Mike Cho and Ark Analogy performed before us, and I was particularly impressed with the frontman of Ark Analogy, who's a technically impressive guitarist and singer.
It was fun to be able to tweet before going on stage, and thinking about Twitter actually led to me flubbing a couple of lines during "Crowded". But I was pretty happy with the set as a whole, thanks to a crowd that clapped and danced along to several of our songs.
We also played an as-yet-untitled new song, which Weetz has immortalised in the video below.
As you can hear, we're still working on the lyrics for the song, so if you've got any suggestions for what the song should be about, drop us an email at kingkongjane@gmail.com
Last but not least, thank you again to Kevin and Jonathan for inviting us to perform for such a meaningful event, and here's our set list for the gig:
Stranger
Crowded
If It Wasn't For You
Lollipop
The new song that sounds like a Japanese anime theme song
Waiting For Friday
Lemonade

Blink blink blink nod nod nod
During my company's career fair last August, I went around the convention hall with a cameraman, interviewing jobseekers and exhibitors for a corporate video that I never got to see till today.
It's very amusing and embarrassing to watch myself blink and nod excessively while listening to my interviewees speak. Now I know how being a broadcast journalist isn't a walk in the park.

Farewell Intern No.4
Come to think of it, the end of Charlene's internship means that I've said goodbye to 4 interns already.
Argh. They'll just keep getting younger as I work longer!

(The word QUEEN just happens to be on top of my head. Not my desk okaaay.)

Current Earwax
David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over
He's a French DJ, and she's the second most famous member of Destiny's Child. The piano riff sounds suspiciously like a Coldplay hit, but the club vibe of the song and Rowland's vocals make this a winner.
The Black Eyed Peas - I Got A Feeling
I didn't get and still don't get "Boom Boom Pow", but this second single from "The E.N.D." is insanely catchy and great for a night out. Further proof that Fergie is good only in small doses. I love the bit where she goes "Draaaank!"
Lady Gaga feat. Marilyn Manson - Lovegame (Chew Fu remix)
At the rate I'm listening to "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" these days, both songs should be permanently listed as "Current Earwax". But back to this remix, which I like much more than the original, thanks to surprisingly effective guest vocals courtesy of Marilyn Manson.
Other tracks I'm digging currently:
The Whitest Boy Alive - Courage
Green Day - Horseshoes And Handgrenades
Aqua - Back to the 80s
Jason Mraz - Try Try Try
The BPA - Toe Jam (Feat. David Byrne And Dizzee Rascal)

'manual' techno vocals for the chorus!
Green Day - Horseshoes And Handgrenades
one of the most kick-ass tracks from their new album
Aqua - Back to the 80s
a commendable comeback effort!
Jason Mraz - Try Try Try
he can do no wrong can he?

goofily good stuff

First to Circle Line, then to Chomp Chomp
So the 3 of us decided to check out the Circle Line on Saturday, and ended up taking the train (which had just 3 cabins) from Bishan to Serangoon.
There was absolutely nothing to eat in the vicinity of the Serangoon station, so we took a cab down to Chomp Chomp, which has a lot of food for both one's stomach and eyes.
Felt very spied upon when Diana and a brother's friend both spotted me there without me even knowing where and who they were respectively.
The pressure of fame I tell you.

Gonna be OK
Saw this on Jason's blog and I'm glad I watched all 10 minutes and 34 seconds of it.
Seriously, only Ellen can pull off a commencement speech that includes references to The Pusscat Dolls, coming out as a lesbian, overcoming a career low and last but not least, a dance to Lady Gaga's breakout hit...

分生
The concept of the song is by no means original (think Mariah and Beyonce), but the music video is easily one of A*Mei's best to date. The new hair really suits her, and the explosion of colours during the song's climax is quite a visual treat.
I'm a little disappointed by how safe the song is though, considering how it's the lead single of a supposedly experimental album. Let's hope the rest of the album manages to push the envelope more, as the marketing blitz for it suggests.
In the meantime, I shall play this video on repeat till I get my hands on the album on the 26th June...

When it's worth your while
The past few weeks have been the most hectic ones I've experienced ever since entering the workforce. I was often the last to leave the office, and even had to bring some work home a couple of times.
Having to juggle multiple job scopes has been a challenge, and neither has managing a team of my own been easy. But the amount of media coverage that our work received on Tuesday was a welcome pat on the back.
And so was the unexpected good news I got from my boss today =)
